SUSTAINABLE UTILIZATION AND MANAGEMENTOF FOREST RESOURCES

With the aim of determining exploitation areas in Baghdati and Vani state forest funds and regulating annual cut, “GeoGraphic” analyzed recent orthophotos and old forest development maps. During the field survey and insitu processing functional zoning of the projected territory and approximate quantity of annual forest reserves in ripe and overripe forests were identified.
The quantity of wood reserves was also determined for the ripening forest exploitation of which can be possible after 20 years.
Based on the interpretation of orthophotos of taxation districts and field inventory data the forest use plan was developed for Tsalenjikha and Chkhorotsku forest districts of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti regional forestry ensuring effective and sustainable exploitation of these forest districts.
The works aiming at rational utilization and management of forest resources have been continued in 2009 at Akhmeta (Ilto), Telavi (Pshaveli) and Tianeti (Bochorma) forest districts.
