Environmental Protection Management and Resettlement Action Plan

Closing of Georgia’s economy to European economic space, acquisition of new transit-transportation functionality and the growth of demand on vehicle transportation, has generated the need of reconstruction of existing roads and even developing a new safe roads according to European standards. The project on modernization of Igoeti-Svaneti section (56-80 km) of E-60 highway was conducted with the World Bank financial support.

Environmental assessment, environmental protection management plan, social impact assassment and resettlement (compensation) action plan will be discussed during the consultations with  public.

GIS fo Kura-Araksi Basin

GIS for Kura-Araks basin was developed in 2001-2002 for planning the use of Kura-Araks basin water resources and improving the water resources management system at the regional level. Based on the geodatabases at 1:200 000 and 1:500 000 scales the maps at different scales and themes were prepared. Integrated software for data management and visualization was developed for the state hydrometeorological services of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia. An Internet site www.daiwater.com was also created.

Project results have been handed to the state hydrometeorological services of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia. Staff of the state hydrometeorological services was trained to ensure the process of updating and further exploiting of the system. The project was implemented with the support of the state hydrometeorological services of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia and Development Alternatives Inc. by using Microsoft Access 2000 and ArcGIS 8.2.
